The Many Forms of Healing & Growth

Healing & growth comes in many forms.

I’ve begun interviewing guests for upcoming podcast episodes who work with individuals in diverse ways to support growth and transformation. My hope is to share not only the modalities they use, but also their personal healing stories—so together we can expand the understanding of healing from something linear into the holistic, interconnected shape it truly is.

One common thread stands out: when healing is successful, there is alignment between cognitive processing, emotional regulation, and nervous system reset. This alignment reflects the energetic connection of what’s happening internally, supporting growth and synchronizing with external life experiences.

When we deepen our awareness of who we are—the “I am” of the ego—while also honoring the spiritual essence of our present moment, we begin to truly understand where we’ve been, what we’ve experienced, and where we are going. Healing is about the now.

This doesn’t mean avoiding emotion; it means allowing each emotional experience, because every emotion carries a message born from the connection between thought, nervous system, and body.

Somatic experience—what is happening in the body—tells the story of what is being processed or blocked. Allowing the nervous system to regulate and connect with both emotional experience and cognitive processing brings us out of the past, away from the future, and into the present. That presence is deeply healing—so much so that many people say it’s all they need.

But healing and growth always occur through connection.

My own healing journey has taken me through many tools, modalities, and holistic perspectives. Since a young age, I’ve been connected spiritually to what could be beyond the physical—whether you call that God, a higher power, Spirit, or simply the deep knowing that we are not alone.

For me, it never felt like “searching.” I was simply open. I wanted to understand why there were so many religions, which is why I studied various spiritual traditions with curiosity. I didn’t see one as false and another as true—I saw each as a story pointing toward the same truth: connection.

When I read the Bible at 14, I found the same energetic truths in its stories that I recognized elsewhere: love and connection run through all things, and when harmony is lost, chaos arises.

Because I lost my father young, death was a constant theme in my life. His absence shaped me, and my mind instinctively sought spiritual connection to him in any form available—through prayer, through stories, through an unshakable knowing that he was still present in some way.

I’ve always felt a sense of guidance from something greater than myself—even during years when my trauma was more dominant than my healing. And I always sensed that I was meant for more than the limitations others projected onto me. Not “more” in the sense of being better than others, but more in the sense of living fully, without the confines of fear or survival mode.

When one of my aunts passed, she left me her tarot cards. I was in my early 20s, and inside the little wooden box with the deck were letters between us from my teenage years. I still have them, along with many other decks.

I don’t see these tools as fortune-telling—they are present-moment guides. The future shifts based on the choices we make now.

I’ve explored energetic healing personally and professionally, including studying reiki. When my daughter was born at 24 weeks, weighing only 1 lb 9 oz, I was told she likely wouldn’t survive, and if she did, her quality of life would be severely limited. I refused to accept that. I sought healing through many avenues—prayers in churches, reiki from trusted practitioners, energetic healing directed to her. I focused only on her being happy, healthy, and home. She is now 11—healthy, happy, and extraordinary.

Over the years, I’ve worked with physicians, psychologists, naturopathic practitioners, and healers of all kinds. Some focus exclusively on the body, some only on the mind, some on emotional release. But through all of it, one truth has stayed constant:

We decide who we are.
We choose our health. We create our path.

I have been trained in multiple modalities, I definitely have my favourites – but it isn’t about just one, it is about how to support the individual in connecting with – well – connection. If your curious – here is where to read more about the modalities I am trained in. Modalities

Not through thought alone, not through emotion alone, not through perfect diet or self-care alone—but through connection with ourselves internally and externally.

Your cognitive messaging, emotional experience, and somatic awareness are all equally important. When these align, you expand into your potential and find your purpose.

The messages imprinted on us—childhood experiences, intergenerational wounds, distorted thoughts—become the stories we carry. Many try to “think” their way into healing (mindset work, CBT, hypnosis) without addressing the emotional layers underneath. Others process emotions without connecting to the body’s role in storing those imprints.

But you cannot create lasting change by engaging only one part of yourself.

Healing through logic alone engages just part of the brain. How can you expect to resolve experiences tied to anger, grief, jealousy, fear, or anxiety—rooted in distorted thought—without addressing the physical sensations that accompany them?

True healing acknowledges the full connection—brain, body, and emotion—not as something mystical, but as a reflection of your biology: neurotransmitters, hormones, neuropeptides, all interacting in the brain-body system.

It’s all energy. Energy that shifts, moves, and connects every part of you. It shapes your internal reality and extends into your interactions, behaviors, and unspoken connections with others.

Some healers—physicians, therapists, social workers—offer tools that address symptoms. Rather than focusing on true healing & growth they focus on what you need to clear one area of your symptoms. Some coaches and holistic practitioners offer tools for growth and alignment. Both are valuable, but neither is complete without awareness of the internal-external connection.

You are not meant to turn off your thoughts.
You are not meant to suppress your emotions.
You are not meant to disconnect from your body.

These aspects are meant to work together.

Healing happens when you build awareness and allow mind, body, and emotion to remain flexible—whether that’s meditation, movement, therapy, nutrition, or energy work.

There is no “wrong” way to heal—if you honor the full connection you were created with.
